The UK's First Intelligent
Car Sourcing Tool

CarMind scans Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace, and eBay Motors every 6 hours. Every listing is scored against CAP HPI trade values and checked for motivated seller signals. When a deal matches your criteria, you get a WhatsApp alert with a call script — before other traders even know the car exists.

Why Timing Is Everything in Car Sourcing

The UK used car market operates on a simple principle: motivated sellers exist in every market, every day. Private individuals who need to sell fast — due to relocation, financial pressure, inheritance, or life changes — consistently price their cars below what a dealer would pay at trade. These opportunities are real, frequent, and accessible.

The problem is timing. A motivated seller listing on Facebook Marketplace at 7am on a Tuesday will receive 15–30 enquiries within the first two hours. The trader who calls at 9am is usually too late. The car is mentally sold. The seller is talking to someone else.

CarMind's car sourcing tool solves the timing problem. By monitoring all three major private sale platforms continuously and alerting you the moment a qualifying listing appears, we give you the first-mover advantage that separates traders who buy right from traders who miss deals. The average time from listing detection to alert delivery: under 60 seconds.

How CarMind Identifies Motivated Sellers

The term "motivated seller" is used loosely in the motor trade. CarMind's scoring engine makes it precise. Every listing is evaluated across five dimensions to produce a motivated seller score from 0 to 100:

Listings scoring above 70 are flagged for instant WhatsApp/SMS alerts. Listings scoring 55–70 are included in your alert feed and email digest. Below 55, the listing is recorded but not pushed — it does not warrant urgent action.

Buy Cars Below Trade Value — What That Actually Means

CAP Clean is the benchmark price a dealer would expect to pay for a car at trade or auction. It's the number used by motor finance companies, insurers, and professional buyers to value used vehicles. Most private sellers don't know what CAP Clean is — they price based on what they see on AutoTrader or what they paid.

Buying cars below trade value means acquiring a vehicle for less than a dealer would pay for it wholesale. Every CarMind alert includes the estimated CAP Clean value for the specific vehicle — year, make, model, mileage — alongside the asking price and the absolute and percentage discount. You know your margin before you pick up the phone.

On the Dealer and Pro plans, CarMind uses real-time CAP HPI data. On the Flipper plan, we use our own depreciation model which provides accurate-enough estimates for most buy decisions. For high-value vehicles or situations requiring precision, the Dealer plan's CAP HPI integration is the right tool.

Car Dealer Stock Sourcing: From One Car to Fifty

CarMind is used by individual traders buying 2–3 cars a month and by dealer principals sourcing 30–50 vehicles monthly. The economics scale differently but the tool works at both ends.

For smaller traders, the primary benefit is time: CarMind replaces 2+ hours of daily manual searching. For active dealers, the primary benefit is coverage: no motivated seller on three major platforms escapes notice, regardless of make, model, or time of posting.

The Pro plan's exclusivity zone feature was designed specifically for dealers building a repeatable sourcing process. By claiming a region and vehicle type — Yorkshire / BMW 3 Series under £15k, for example — a dealer secures a systematic first-mover position in that segment for 30 days.

CarMind does not replace the call, the viewing, or the negotiation. It removes the sourcing step — the hours of searching — and replaces it with precise, timed alerts. What you do with those alerts is still down to you.

Platforms Monitored: Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace, eBay Motors

The three platforms CarMind monitors represent the primary venues where UK private sellers list vehicles for direct sale. Together, they handle approximately 48,000 new car listings per day across the UK.

Gumtree: historically the strongest platform for motivated private sellers, particularly in the £1,500–£8,000 segment. High proportion of genuine private sellers, detailed text descriptions, and phone numbers often listed directly.

Facebook Marketplace: the highest-volume source and the most volatile. Listings appear and disappear within hours. The casual, conversational listing format produces some of the strongest motivated seller language found anywhere. Best for the £3,000–£15,000 segment.

eBay Motors: unique because of auction listings — a car with a low reserve and one day remaining is a classic motivated seller scenario. eBay's structured data also provides reliable field extraction (make, model, year, mileage) with minimal noise.
